BUILDING PERMIT PROCEDURES COMMERCIAL PROJECTS
1. Submit a completed Building Permit Application with the following:
a. Two (2) sets of building plans (must be stamped and signed by a licensed engineer)
b. Plot Plan showing layout of building with front, side and rear setbacks
c. Engineered plan sheets and structural calculations must be stamped and signed by a licensed engineer
2. The plans are given to the Building Inspector for review. If necessary, the City Engineer is also given the plans to review.
3. If no corrections are needed from the applicant, the plans are submitted to the City Planner for review and approval.
4. The City Planner will check the plot plan and verify all set back information.
5. When the permit is approved and fees calculated, Community Development Department will arrange a pre-construction meeting with Applicant and/or Builder and Staff. The following departments could be in attendance: Building Department, City Engineer, City Planner and Business License Coordinator.
6. The permit and the contractor’s set of plans are released at the pre-construction meeting and fees need to be paid at the Centerville City Hall Building, 250 North Main Street, Centerville. A permit number will be issued at the time of payment.
7. When scheduling inspections for your project, please provide us with the following information: permit number, location/address of project, contact name and number and the type of inspection you are requesting. Please call 292-8232 to schedule required inspections.
8. Before final occupancy of your project, a Certificate of Occupancy Approval Worksheet will be mailed or delivered to you that requires an authorized signature from several departments for approval. Any questions regarding this form, call 292-8232 and we will be happy to assist you.
9. When all required signatures are complete on the Certificate of Occupancy Approval Worksheet, return this form to Community Development Department, 655 North 1250 West. The Building Official will issue a Certificate of Occupancy and the building can be occupied. Owner posts Certificate of Occupancy in a conspicuous place. |
