Weed Abatement
Weed Control 10-320
The following applies to all property within the City
• Weeds must be maintained at a height of not more than twelve inches (12”)
• Weeds that are rototilled, disked or removed by the root must be buried under the soil, removed from the property or composted
• Noxious plants such as poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac and plants designated in the Utah Noxious Weed Act must not be permitted to grow on any property at any time.
• When the Fire Official determines that the weeds in a particular area pose a serious fire hazard in view of their density, dryness, proximity to possible sources of ignition, and the effects of prevailing winds and weather, then the owner of the property is required to remove or maintain such weeds at an acceptable height as determined by the Fire Official.
Exceptions
When the Community Development Director determines that the size, location, accessibility, topography, nature of use, or other circumstances regarding certain property makes compliance impractical, the Community Development Director may issue a written determination limiting the required removal of weeds and permitting the owner to create fire breaks or exempt the property from the specific requirements. Any exceptions or exemption must be issued in writing by the Community Development Director to the property owner.
