Exempt Residential Repairs
Permits are not required for shingle replacement, siding replacement (except stucco, brick,
or rock wainscots), including weather barrier underlayment, and other similar façade repairs
Emergency Residential Repairs
An over-the counter permit is required for any structural repairs (roof sheathing, walls,
roof truss, etc.), stucco, brick, or rock wainscot repairs, electrical repairs, or other
utility connections and repairs
Major Damage or Collapsed Buildings
If there has been significant damage to a structure; such as crushed buildings or garages,
a regular building permit must be obtained and will require a plan submittal and will be
processed using the normal permitting procedures

Permit Charges: Permits will be issued over-the-counter (plan submittal not required), work may be performed and then an inspection request is to be made.
The 1st inspection will be invoiced a total charge of $66.66 and must be paid within 48 hours to close the permit
If a 2nd inspection is required, due to follow-up corrections or code compliance issues, the permit holder must pay a total charge of $133.32 prior to calling for a 2nd inspection
All regular permits issued will be charged in accordance with standards fees
All residents may contact the Building Department at 801-292-8232 to schedule a
one-time consultation visit (no charge) with a building inspector
to discuss any repair needs or concerns
