First Centerville Harvest Festival
Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 12:48 PM

It is the goal of the Whitaker Museum that the museum will play an increasing part in our community, both as a cultural and community center.  In keeping with these goals, the Whitaker Museum announces its

FIRST EVER HARVEST FESTIVAL
Saturday September 29, 2007, 2:00 pm until 5:00 p.m.

Currently scheduled activities include wagon/carriage and pony rides, apple bobbing, tugs of war, 3-legged races, sack races, and egg and spoon races for young and old alike!  Canning and home-grown vegetable displays, as well as a quilt display, will showcase classic home management talents of our citizens.  An expert spinner will show us how spinning is still done and compare it to days gone by.  Also planned is a carved pumpkin display walk extending north and south from the museum on Main Street, as well as an art display.  Fiddlers will keep us in a merry mood as we sit and chat, watch the kids play, and eat some tasty treats available at 1870s prices.  Re-enactors will mix with the public to bring alive the history of the time.  And of course, the museum will be open for tours.  Everyone is invited.  Please come to the museum and meet your neighbors and support your community while having some good old-fashioned fun!  Admission is free.

If you would like to showcase a quilt, your canning, or your prize-worthy vegetables, or be involved in the pumpkin carving display, or volunteer at the Harvest Festival, please contact Rebekah Barton at 298-4390; via e-mail [preferred] at rbarton964@yahoo.com
