Input on curbside recycling requested Wednesday, September 03, 2008 - 02:21 AM The City Council will host an open house and take comment on curbside recycling on October 7.
The City Council is considering a curbside recycling program. There will be an open house on Tuesday October 7th at 6:00 pm on recycling. ACE Disposal and Rocky Mountain Recycling will provide information on the recycling industry and a curbside program at the open house. The City Council will also accept public comment at the City Council meeting that evening, shortly after 7:00. The City has received a proposal from ACE Disposal, the current household waste collection provider.
A mandatory program would cost approximately $3.20 per month, or a subscription program would cost approximately $6.25 per month and would require at least 500 households to enroll in the program before it could begin. The proposed program would include a bi-weekly (every other) pickup for all recylables in one container. In the near future, this program would include glass. ACE has proposed to provide a natural gas truck for this program, which will not only be clean burning but will keep costs down.
