Minutes of the Centerville Historic Sites Committee meeting held Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at the Centerville Public Works Building, 655 North 1250 West, Centerville, Utah.

MEMBERS PRESENT:
Dani Burgoyne, Chairperson
Royce Allen
Nancy Beesley, arrived at 8:53 p.m.
JoAnn Earl
Margy Richter
Bill Rigby, was excused at 7:45 p.m.
Maurine Ward

STAFF PRESENT:
Connie Larson, Recording Secretary

MINUTES REVIEW AND APPROVAL

Bill Rigby made a motion to approve the April 17, 2003 Historic Sites Committee meeting minutes as amended. Margy Richter seconded the motion, which was approved by unanimous vote (5-0). Royce Allen abstained from voting, as he was not present at the meeting.

HISTORIC HOME TOUR

The Committee reported on the Historic Home Tour that was held on May 17, 2003. Margy Richter said she received a lot of positive feedback on the tour and it was estimated over 100 people attended the tour. The Committee felt the tour was very successful.

JoAnn Earl reported the third grade tours of historic sites in Centerville went very well.

CURBSIDE MARKERS

Maurine Ward reported she has the narratives and pictures ready to take to Interpretive Graphics, with the exception of the Pettit/France garage and home. It is expected to take six weeks for the markers to be completed.

NATIONAL AND LOCAL REGISTERS

Dani Burgoyne reported that Roger Roper said if the Committee does not use all of the money it was granted, the Committee may not be given the same amount of money next year. Dani will talk with home owners who were suggested previously for the National Historic Register to see if they would be interested in having their home on the register.





WHITAKER MUSEUM

JoAnn Earl reported the repairs at the Whitaker Museum have been completed. Adam Bowler, Planning Intern, has been assigned as a liaison between the City and contractors for repairs on the museum. The rock work under the windows needs to be filled in and Mr. Bowler is currently working with a contractor on this project.

BOOTH FOR 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION

Margy Richter reported she has contacted Dale Anderson to reserve a double booth at Founders Park for the 4th of July festivities. Committee members will dress in period clothing at the booth. Historic pictures, maps, and brochures will be displayed and available for purchase at the booth.

GOODBYE TO ROYCE ALLEN

Royce Allen has fulfilled his term with the Historic Sites Committee and the Committee expressed appreciation to Mr. Allen for his service.

JUNE MEETING AND BARBEQUE

The next Historic Sites Committee meeting/barbeque will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Dani Burgoyne, 377 Willow Vale Circle (1650 North).

The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
