Contact needs to be made with every home in your area and given the following information:
Power may be out for the next few days. This means furnaces will not work.
If they have an alternative heat source, be sure it is safe to use indoors. Do not use indoors any portable heaters that consume oxygen or produce carbon monoxide.
If your furnace is not working, turn all faucets on to a slow drip to prevent the pipes from freezing tonight. Use a slow drip, not a stream, to conserve City’s water supply.
The City is working with the Red Cross on a limited shelter for those in real need. Anyone needing emergency shelter should call 801-295-3477,
Identify any persons in your area with special needs such as those using oxygen and assist them as appropriate, or call Police Department at 801-292-8441.
Green waste dumpsters for tree limbs no heavier than 75 lbs nor longer than 4’ will be placed at west end of Smoot Park (200 W.); east side of Community Park (400 W.); 700 East Street level of Island View Park; church at 950 N. Main (rear parking lot); white church at 200 S. and 200 E. (parking lot). For larger green waste debris, leave at curbside for pickup at a later date.
Debris that is not green waste should be disposed of by property owners.
Communicate by texting rather than voice, when feasible.
Please stay home, if possible, even after wind dies down, to allow road access and cleanup by emergency crews.
Do not call 911 to report power outage; call Rocky Mountain Power directly at 877-548-3768.
Traffic signals are not operating and traffic signs are down at many intersections. Use courtesy and caution when driving is necessary.
