CRS Ratings & You

Centerville City participates in the Community Rating System (CRS). This program was developed to encourage communities to exceed minimum floodplain management requirements for improved flood protection. One of the benefits of participating in this program is a flood insurance premium rate discount on all Federal Emergency Management Agency backed flood insurance policies.

Currently all residents living in Centerville receive a 5% discount on flood insurance policies purchased through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The CRS rating is based on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the best. Currently Centerville City is a Class 9; however, effective May 1, 2008 Centerville will become the second city in Utah to receive a Class 7 rating. This is the best rating in Utah. The improved rating is the result of the City's proactive effort to mitigate the flood hazards in our community. Activities that helped us achieve this rating include: open space preservation, flood protection assistance, stormwater management, active maintenance of drainage facilities, and outreach projects.
