What Do we Do?

The Centerville Historic Sites Committee was created by the city to help identify, preserve, protect and enhance historic buildings, sites, monuments, streetscapes, landmarks and museum artifacts within the city that are architecturally or historically significant.

Projects:  Past, Present, & Future

*  Identifying historic homes and sites for placement on the local and national registers.
*  Identifying historic landmarks using curbside markers.
*  Creating booklets showing these homes and landmarks.
*  Giving historic home tours.
*  Obtaining grants from the State to fund projects.
*  Helping to maintain and care for the Whitaker Museum.
*  Educating the public about the historic sites of Centerville City.

How Do I Join?

*  Fill out a statement of interest available at City Hall or click here.
*  Have an interview with the Mayor.
*  Be approved by the City Council.
*  Be willing to serve the community by attending meetings, taking on responsibility and learning more about the history of the community.
