Proclamations: Red Ribbon Week Proclamation - October 19 - 25, 2003



 

PROCLAMATION NO. 2003-04

RED RIBBON WEEK

OCTOBER 19 ~ 25, 2003

WHEREAS, parents can influence their children’s decisions about alcohol and other drug use by learning the facts and discussing them with their children; and

WHEREAS, parents need to be aware that they can help prevent children from using alcohol and other drugs by talking to them about this problem at an early age; and

WHEREAS, parents can teach their children to enjoy life without using alcohol and drugs; and

WHEREAS, the Utah Federation for Drug-Free Youth is participating in a nationwide effort to make parents aware of what they can do to help their children to avoid using alcohol and other drugs; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael L. Deamer, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of Centerville, Utah do hereby proclaim October 19 ~ 25, 2003 as:

RED RIBBON WEEK

in Centerville, Utah and encourage all citizens to participate in this effort to keep our children free of tobacco, alcohol and other harmful drugs through education and partnering with teachers and parents.
