Pursuit with Stolen Vehicle

On June 14, 2010, at approximately 10:30 pm, two Hispanic males were observed breaking into a PT Cruiser in the parking lot of the Lone Star Restaurant in Centerville located at 111 South 800 West. The owner of the PT Cruiser was just leaving the Lone Star where she worked and was in the company of a female coworker.  The two women spotted the suspects burglarizing the PT Cruiser where upon the suspects fled in a stolen Cadillac Escalade. The two females were nearly struck by the fleeing suspects, and they had to jump out of harm’s way.

Centerville Police were contacted immediately, and a description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast. An alert Centerville officer spotted a vehicle matching the description getting onto the freeway from Parrish Lane and followed it. The Escalade traveled north on I-15 and took the first Farmington exit and then proceeded south on the Frontage Road back towards Centerville and began to accelerate in speed. The Centerville officer attempted to stop the Escalade which did not yield and continued to accelerate in speed. A pursuit was initiated, and the Escalade reached speeds around 100 mph on the Frontage Road. Officers set up roadway vehicle spikes near Parrish Lane, and they were successful in flattening two of the tires on the Escalade. The pursuit continued into a residential area of Bountiful with the Escalade driving on one rim and another flat tire where the suspects jumped from the moving vehicle and fled on foot. The Escalade came to a stop in the front yard of a home in the neighborhood causing minor damage to the grass.

The passenger was captured after he jumped a fence into a backyard by the initiating officer. A containment area was set up in the neighborhood in an effort to locate the driver; however, he was able to elude capture.  The passenger received minor injuries as a result of the foot pursuit. He was taken to Lakeview Hospital where he was examined and released. He was then booked into Davis County Jail. The passenger is identified as 19 year old Glen Michael House of Salt Lake. The driver is not known at this time.

The Escalade was stolen from a dealership in North Salt Lake and had a Colorado plate on it belonging to a Kia.
