On March 4, 2011, Centerville Police began an investigation into a report of a 17 year old girl who stated that her 26 year old cousin had raped her while they were at a gathering in Centerville the night before. A Centerville detective was called out to meet with the 17 year old girl who was at the hospital with her parents. This incident which resulted in the arrest of Jeffrey Paul Ellis in Salt Lake at his work has been under investigation since March 4th. Ellis is now 27 and has moved from Centerville where he lived at the time to Woods Cross.
The victim in this case reported that she had gone to Jeffrey Ellis’s home, located at 472 South Main Street in Centerville on the evening of March 3, 2011, with a male friend. At Ellis’s home Jeffrey had some other male friends over and there was drinking of alcohol going on. Jeffrey reportedly provided alcohol to his 17 year old cousin and her friend. During the course of the evening the 17 year old female minor consumed alcohol and then went to sleep. She reported that she woke up to her cousin Jeffrey Ellis committing sexual acts on her which she tried to stop. The assault continued until after full sexual intercourse had occurred.
During the investigation, DNA evidence was collected which linked Jeffrey Elis to the assault. Jeffrey Paul Ellis was booked into Davis County Jail on Friday March 5th on charges of Rape 1st degree felony and providing alcohol to a minor.
