Bank Robbery Arrests

On October 22, 2011, at about 11:29 am, a masked man robbed the America First Credit Union located at 451 West Parrish Lane in Centerville.  Several people witnessed the suspect entering the Credit Union and then leaving in a green Honda Civic. A Centerville officer also observed the vehicle going south on I-15 but was unable to catch up to it. Based on all the information obtained through witnesses, Centerville Detectives working with the FBI and the Northern Utah Criminal Apprehension Team (NUCAT) located the vehicle used in the robbery and identified two suspects. 

Elnathan Posey Jr., 33 year old from Salt Lake City, and Joseph Scott Manning, 30 year old also from Salt Lake City, have been identified by police as the persons responsible for the robbery at America First Credit Union. Elnathan Posey Jr. was arrested yesterday afternoon near the homeless shelter Salt Lake by Centerville Detectives and FBI Agents. He was booked into Davis County Jail charged with the robbery. Elnathan is believed to be the driver of the get-away car. 

Officers attempted to locate Joseph Scott Manning last night and obtained a search warrant for an apartment in Salt Lake.  Manning was not at the apartment but NUCAT officers and Centerville detectives located a significant amount of methamphetamine and some suspected heroin and made two additional arrests related to the drugs located there. Also during the course of this investigation a stolen car was recovered. 

Joseph Scott Manning is on federal probation and was picked up today in Salt Lake City by U.S. Marshalls for a probation violation and booked into Weber County Jail. Manning was on probation for car-jacking and is now facing charges related to the robbery in Centerville. It is believed that Manning was the person who went into the bank and committed the actual robbery.

Centerville Police wishes to recognize the many witnesses and the great investigative work done by the FBI, NUCAT agents, and our detectives to promptly locate these individuals. We also wish to thank the Salt Lake Area Gang Task Force who assisted with the search warrant.
