Is there a girl's softball league? Yes, they will play in the Bountiful Bonnet Ball League. Contact either Lynn Robinson at 299-8278 or Steve Deden at 299-0924 or 663-9526. Softball sign-ups are February 13th - 23rd.
Can my child play with his friends? Yes, for T-ball or Coach Pitch teams, and Machine Pitch teams. Player Pitch teams will be assigned to teams by the Baseball Coordinator.
How are teams selected? T-Ball or Machine Pitch teams will be by neighborhood or school. All others will be pre-assigned, if a participant has played in Centerville in 2007. All others must attend a skills assessment practice on March 29, 2008. Contact Randy Smith a 694-8881 for additional dates.
How is the registration paid? It can either be paid on-line starting February 11th or in person at the Centerville City Hall 250 North Main starting March 3rd from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Will there be late sign ups? Yes, until the team rosters are full. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed for each registration. Late sign-ups will be put on a waiting list and the Baseball Coordinator will make the team assignments. Full refunds will be given if no spot is available.
Are refunds given? Refunds will be given up to the baseball draft day. $10.00 of each registration fee is non-refundable.
When are the games played? Regular games will start the last week of April (weather permitting) and go through June. Regular season games will be played Tuesday through Thursday. Make-up games will be on Friday and Saturday.
What equipment will be provided by the City? Hats, shirts,socks and team equipment.
Is the City baseball program associated with an organized league? Yes, the City recreation program is under the Pony League and regulated by their by-laws. A copy of a birth certificate will be required at City Hall before the player will be assigned a team.
Are there going to be any tournaments? There will be City tournaments July 10th - 19th. "All-Star" Pony League tournament games will start July 12th. Go to "Season Play" for additional dates and information.
Is Insurance offered through the City? No - Personal insurance is required.
Will there be any awards? There will be a medallion for all Shetland participants plus trophies for tournament 1st and 2nd place teams.
Can my child "play up" one year? Yes, he may play up one year, if he is ten (10) or older. To play in the All Star Tournament, he must play within his age group during the full season. Also, he may be picked up from a league below when that team cannot field 8 or 9 players.
What happens to "lost and found" items? Small items (i.e. hats, gloves, keys, balls, etc.) are kept at the ball park for one year. Large items are turned into the Police.
